As part of the newly installed DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center (CRC) ›Production of Migration‹ the Project C2 – ›Unmaking Migrants? Die Produktion der EU-Binnen- und Außengrenzen und ihre Effekte in historisch-postkolonialer Perspektive‹ – is seeking to appoint 2 Doctoral Researchers (m/f/d).

2 x 0,75 Doctoral Researchers (m/f/d) in SFB&CRC-Project on ›Production of Migration‹ (SFB 1604)

The DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center (CRC) ›Production of Migration‹ (SFB 1604) examines the conditions and functions of the social production and negotiation of migration across disciplines. The aim of SFB 1604 is to establish reflexive migration research as an approach to the study of society. While the center is hosted by Osnabrück University, the Europa-Universität Flensburg is one of the partner institutions involved in this collaborative research center.

Project C2 – › ›Unmaking Migrants? The Production of the EU’s Internal and External Borders and their Effects in Historical-Postcolonial Perspective‹ – is seeking to appoint

2 Doctoral Researchers (m/f/d) (Salary level E 13 TV-L, 75%)

The position begins on April 1, 2024 and ends on December 31, 2027.

Tasks:
- Conducting research on one of the project’s case studies in contemporary history, ideally as the basis for obtaining a PhD degree
- Conducting archival research in French archives
- Contributing to the project’s various research activities
- Participating in the CRC’s Integrated Research Training Group and in regular project meetings
- Participating in the events and activities of the CRC in Osnabrück and the Interdisciplinary Centre for European Studies at the Europa-Universität Flensburg

Requirements:
- Very good university degree in History, European Studies, or other relevant disciplines in the Humanities and Social Sciences (MA or equivalent)
- Expertise in Modern European History and/or Global History
- Very good English and French language skills

Desirable Qualifications:
- A keen interest in current debates, theoretical problems, and new approaches to Migration and Border Studies and European History
- Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research and international work contexts
- Ability to work in a team
